About this Course
The QA Level 4 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (RQF), also known as FREC 4, provides learners with wider skills and knowledge to deal with pre-hospital emergencies, and allows for greater employment opportunities in the Ambulance sector. It is the ideal course for those who want to progress within the NHS or private ambulance services in roles such as an Urgent Care Assistant Event Medical Provider, Intermediate Ambulance Practitioner, Associate Practitioner or Healthcare Assistant.
This course can also be combined with CERAD to qualify learners to be Emergency Care Assistants; and you may be eligible for a discount. Message us and we will send you a code if you're eligible. Conditions apply.
Upon completion, candidates will be qualified to deal with a range of emergency situations, for example:
- Major incidents
- Fracture immobilisation
- Sick and injured children
- Mental health problems and more.

We run our FREC 4 in Sheffield and Manchester - see addresses below. The courses normally run for 1 week from Monday to Friday, from approximately 09:00-05:00. Pick one of the dates above, and once you book your place, you will receive joining instructions via email. When you attend your course on your selected date, one of our staff will greet you at reception and direct you with where you need to go. There is coffee and tea available on site. Our tutors have years of experience and will ensure that you meet the criteria to reach the FREC 4 standard.
After the FREC 4 classroom time, you will receive 3 workbooks to complete (you have a maximum of 1 year to complete them).
Requirements
You must have completed the FREC 3.
There must be at least 4 weeks between your FREC 3 and your FREC 4. You may book both FREC 3 and FREC 4 at the same time, but there must be 4 weeks or more between the two dates. If you do not comply with this rule when booking, you may be asked to reschedule.
You must be over 17 years old.
Job Opportunities
The FREC 4 course will further qualify you as an Urgent Care Assistant in the Ambulance Sector and in Event Medical Cover. Combined with our CERAD (blue light driving) qualification, you can become an Emergency Care Assistant (learner eligibility criteria apply) and work alongside a Paramedic or a Technician in emergency situations.
